Assistant Secretary Mallory Stewart joins us to discuss the state-of-play with the US-Russia relationship and New START. A/S Stewart takes us back to the pandemic-era cessation of inspections leading to Russia’s illegal suspension of treaty obligations and how the US has adopted lawful countermeasures to induce their return to full compliance. On a larger scale, the US continues to urge China and the P5 to enter into an encompassing strategic risk reduction effort. She concludes that the US sees this inflection point in global security as an opportunity to look for new creative strategies to build upon the past experience and strengthen arms control across a variety of platforms.
